Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and passionate Community Engagement Officer to join our dynamic team, focusing on local projects within the Southbank area of Melbourne. This role is crucial in fostering positive relationships with residents, community groups, local businesses, and stakeholders to ensure our projects are delivered with community input and benefit. You will be responsible for developing and implementing engagement strategies, managing communication channels, and facilitating community events. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a strong understanding of community development and a desire to make a tangible impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive community engagement strategies for various local projects.
- Act as the primary point of contact for community inquiries and feedback, ensuring timely and effective responses.
- Organize and facilitate community meetings, workshops, information sessions, and events.
- Prepare and distribute engagement materials, including newsletters, flyers, website content, and social media updates.
- Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with community leaders, local government, businesses, and residents.
- Monitor community sentiment and provide regular reports to project teams and management.
- Identify potential community issues or opportunities and work proactively to address them.
- Ensure all engagement activities comply with company policies, local regulations, and best practice guidelines.
- Contribute to the development of social impact assessments and community benefit plans.
Required Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience in community engagement, public relations, or a related field.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information clearly.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Understanding of the local Southbank/Melbourne community context.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Social Sciences, Urban Planning, or a related discipline.
- Experience working within the property development or construction industry.
- Familiarity with local government processes and community consultation frameworks.
