Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Sonographer to join our dynamic Radiology Department in Edinburgh. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a wide range of diagnostic ultrasound examinations, providing accurate imaging and preliminary reports to aid in patient diagnosis and treatment. Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations across various specialities, including general, vascular, obstetric, and gynaecological.
- Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment in accordance with safety guidelines and operational protocols.
- Accurately interpret ultrasound images and provide preliminary reports to referring clinicians.
- Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the examination process.
- Maintain accurate patient records and contribute to effective departmental workflows.
- Participate in quality assurance programs and continuous professional development.
- Collaborate effectively with radiologists, clinicians, and other healthcare professionals.
Required Skills
- PgC/PgD/MSc in Medical Ultrasound or equivalent.
- Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience as a Sonographer.
- Proficiency in performing a wide range of ultrasound examinations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with advanced ultrasound techniques (e.g., elastography, contrast-enhanced ultrasound).
- Evidence of participation in clinical audit or research projects.
- Teaching or mentoring experience.
- Proficiency with specific PACS and RIS systems.
