Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and intellectually curious Space Medicine & Bioastronautics Intern to join our innovative research team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research at the intersection of human physiology, medicine, and space exploration. The successful candidate will work alongside leading scientists and clinicians to explore the effects of space environments on the human body, develop countermeasures, and contribute to protocols for astronaut health and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior researchers in conducting literature reviews on topics related to space medicine, bioastronautics, and human spaceflight.
- Support data collection and analysis for ongoing research projects, including physiological monitoring and experimental studies.
- Help prepare research protocols, reports, and presentations.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure a clean, organized work environment.
- Participate in team meetings, seminars, and training sessions to deepen understanding of space medicine concepts.
- Contribute to the drafting of scientific manuscripts or grant applications as opportunities arise.
- Perform general administrative duties as needed to support research operations.
Required Skills
- Strong academic record in a relevant science field (e.g., Biology, Physiology, Biomedical Engineering, Pre-Med).
- Demonstrated interest in space exploration, human physiology, and medicine.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented research environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new research methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program related to life sciences, engineering, or medicine.
- Prior experience in a research laboratory setting (academic projects or volunteer work are acceptable).
- Familiarity with scientific databases and literature search tools.
- Basic understanding of statistical analysis software (e.g., R, SPSS) is a plus but not required.
