Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Heavy Equipment / Plant Manager to oversee operations at our Mansfield facility. This critical role involves managing all aspects of heavy plant and equipment, ensuring optimal performance, maintenance, safety, and operational efficiency. The successful candidate will be a strong leader, capable of managing a team, adhering to strict safety protocols, and driving productivity. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of heavy plant and equipment, ensuring maximum uptime and efficiency.
  • Lead, train, and develop a team of plant operators, technicians, and maintenance staff.
  • Implement and enforce robust health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Oversee scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities, working closely with maintenance teams.
  • Manage equipment inventory, spare parts, and procurement processes.
  • Monitor operational budgets and strive for cost-effective solutions without compromising safety or quality.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare operational reports and performance metrics for senior management.
  • Identify opportunities for operational improvements and implement best practices.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in heavy equipment or plant management, minimum 5 years.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems related to heavy machinery.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations within an industrial setting.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues efficiently.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in using operational management software and systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree or HND in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH).
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Prior experience working in the aggregates, quarrying, or heavy building materials industry.
