Job Description
We are seeking a talented and experienced Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineer to join our dynamic team in Dallas, TX. This is an on-site position where you will be instrumental in designing innovative and compliant plumbing and fire protection systems for a variety of challenging projects. You will work within a collaborative environment, contributing to all phases of project development from conceptual design through construction administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive plumbing and fire protection designs for commercial, institutional, and industrial projects.
- Perform calculations for water supply, waste drainage, storm drainage, gas systems, and fire sprinkler systems (hydraulic calculations).
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and reports using industry-standard software like Revit and AutoCAD.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant local, state, and federal codes and standards (e.g., IPC, UPC, NFPA, IBC).
- Coordinate design efforts with architects, other engineering disciplines, and external stakeholders.
- Participate in project meetings, client presentations, and site visits as required.
- Conduct technical reviews of drawings and specifications prepared by junior engineers or other team members.
- Support construction administration activities, including responding to RFIs and reviewing submittals.
Required Skills
- Minimum 3 years of experience in plumbing and fire protection system design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
- Strong understanding of plumbing codes (IPC/UPC) and fire protection codes (NFPA standards, IBC).
- Ability to perform hydraulic calculations for fire sprinkler systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- LEED Accreditation or experience with sustainable design principles.
- Experience with Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft Office Suite, and hydraulic modeling software.
- Master's degree in Engineering.
- Prior experience working on large-scale infrastructure or complex building projects.
