Job Description

Join the dedicated team at Cone Health as a Hospital Patient Transporter. This is an active and crucial role that ensures patients are safely and comfortably moved between departments, for appointments, procedures, or discharge. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely transport patients via wheelchair, stretcher, or bed to and from various hospital locations (e.g., patient rooms, diagnostic areas, operating rooms, discharge points).
  • Verify patient identification and ensure proper documentation is complete before transport.
  • Assist patients with transferring to and from transport equipment, using proper body mechanics and patient safety techniques.
  • Communicate effectively and courteously with patients, families, and hospital staff.
  • Maintain cleanliness and functionality of transport equipment, reporting any issues promptly.
  • Respond to transport requests in a timely manner, prioritizing urgent cases as directed.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, safety protocols, and infection control standards.
  • Provide comfort and reassurance to patients during transport, addressing their needs and concerns.

Required Skills

  • Ability to push, pull, and lift patients and equipment safely.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic understanding of safety procedures and patient privacy (HIPAA).
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience in a customer service or patient-facing role.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification.
