Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Broadcast Engineer to join our dynamic technical operations team in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. This role is crucial in maintaining the robust technical infrastructure that underpins our broadcast operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and support of a wide range of broadcast equipment, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime. You will work with cutting-edge technology, troubleshoot complex issues, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our broadcast systems. Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain broadcast equipment including cameras, vision mixers, audio consoles, routing systems, servers, and playout devices.
- Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on all broadcast-related hardware and software.
- Monitor broadcast systems to ensure continuous operation, identify potential issues, and implement proactive solutions.
- Provide technical support during live broadcasts, studio productions, and post-production workflows.
- Collaborate with production teams, IT support, and external vendors to resolve technical challenges efficiently.
- Document system configurations, maintenance procedures, and incident reports.
- Participate in the planning and execution of system upgrades, new equipment installations, and infrastructure projects.
- Adhere to broadcast standards, health and safety regulations, and company policies.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of broadcast signal paths (SDI, IP), video formats, and audio standards.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting complex broadcast systems and identifying root causes of technical failures.
- Experience with vision mixing, audio mixing, routing, and playout automation systems.
- Familiarity with IP-based broadcast workflows and networking fundamentals.
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Proficiency with common test equipment such as waveform monitors, vector scopes, and audio meters.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field.
- Experience with virtualised broadcast environments and cloud-based solutions.
- Knowledge of specific ITV broadcast technologies or proprietary systems.
- Certifications in relevant broadcast or IT technologies.
- Experience in project management within a broadcast environment.
