Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Public Lands Groundskeeper to join our team in Hoyland. This vital role involves maintaining the grounds and facilities of our public parks, open spaces, and council properties to the highest standards. You will be responsible for a variety of horticultural and landscape maintenance tasks, contributing to the aesthetic appeal and safety of our community’s green infrastructure. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine grounds maintenance tasks including mowing, strimming, edging, and pruning.
- Planting, weeding, mulching, and watering of flowerbeds, shrubs, and trees.
- Maintain sports pitches and recreational areas, including line marking and general upkeep.
- Operate and maintain a range of horticultural machinery and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Monitor and report on the condition of public lands, identifying and addressing any issues.
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Undertake litter picking, waste removal, and general site tidiness.
- Assist with seasonal tasks such as leaf clearance, gritting, and snow removal.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in grounds maintenance or a similar outdoor physical role.
- Ability to operate grounds maintenance equipment (e.g., mowers, strimmers, hedge trimmers).
- Understanding of basic horticultural practices.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work effectively in all weather conditions.
- Commitment to health and safety procedures.
- Full UK driving license.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 in Horticulture or Landscaping.
- PA1/PA6 Pesticide Application Certificate.
- Experience with amenity horticulture.
- First Aid qualification.
