Job Description
ILAC International College is seeking an experienced and dynamic Academic Department Head to lead our international sponsorship programs in Mississauga. This pivotal role involves overseeing the academic quality, curriculum development, and student support for programs catering to international sponsored students. The successful candidate will be a visionary leader with a deep understanding of international education, regulatory compliance, and a passion for fostering a supportive and high-achieving learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the academic department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning for international sponsored programs.
- Oversee curriculum development, review, and enhancement to meet industry standards and student needs.
- Manage and mentor a team of instructors, providing professional development and performance evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant provincial and national educational regulations, specifically pertaining to international students and sponsored programs.
- Collaborate with the admissions, student services, and international partnerships teams to ensure seamless student experience from enrollment to graduation.
- Develop and implement strategies for student retention and academic success.
- Participate in strategic planning and budget management for the department.
- Represent the college at educational fairs, conferences, and stakeholder meetings, especially concerning international sponsorship.
Required Skills
- Master's degree in Education, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of academic leadership experience, preferably within an international education setting.
- Demonstrated understanding of Canadian post-secondary education systems and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience with international student sponsorship programs and related compliance.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in educational technology and learning management systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. or Ed.D.
- Experience working with diverse international student populations.
- Fluency in a second language (e.g., Mandarin, Spanish, Arabic).
- Project management certification.
