Job Description

Are you passionate about helping others and looking to start a rewarding career in mental health? Trillium Health Partners is seeking enthusiastic and compassionate individuals to join our team as Trainee Mental Health Support Workers. This entry-level position requires no prior experience, as comprehensive training will be provided to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to make a real difference in the lives of individuals managing mental health challenges. You will work within a supportive team environment, contributing to the well-being and recovery of our patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support and companionship to patients under the guidance of experienced mental health professionals.
  • Assist with daily living activities, encouraging independence and skill development.
  • Engage patients in therapeutic and recreational activities, both individually and in group settings.
  • Monitor and report on patient progress, behaviors, and any concerns to the senior team.
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment for patients.
  • Support patients in accessing community resources and engaging in social integration activities.
  • Adhere to all policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines, ensuring patient confidentiality and dignity.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Genuine empathy, patience, and a strong desire to help others.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as a volunteer in a healthcare or social services setting is an asset, but not required.
  • Basic understanding of mental health conditions (full training will be provided).
  • First Aid and CPR certification (training can be provided if needed).
