Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and meticulous Passport Office Assistant to join our federal government team in Burnie. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals with exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy. As a Passport Office Assistant, you will play a vital role in processing passport applications, verifying documents, and assisting the public with their travel documentation needs. Full training will be provided, focusing on government procedures, security protocols, and customer service best practices. This role demands a high level of responsibility, integrity, and the ability to handle sensitive information with utmost discretion.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, review, and process passport applications in accordance with federal guidelines and regulations.
- Verify applicant identities and supporting documentation for accuracy and authenticity.
- Capture applicant biometric data (e.g., photographs, fingerprints) as required.
- Assist applicants with inquiries regarding passport requirements, application status, and general travel advice.
- Maintain accurate records and data entry in secure government systems.
- Handle sensitive personal information with strict confidentiality and integrity.
- Manage queues and appointments efficiently to ensure smooth office operations.
- Escalate complex cases or unusual circumstances to senior staff.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with policy changes.
