Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and dedicated City Recreation Center Supervisor to oversee the daily operations and ensure the smooth running of one of Manchester’s key recreation centers. This role is pivotal in creating a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for all users, from coordinating activities and managing staff to ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. You will be instrumental in fostering community spirit and promoting active lifestyles within Manchester.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead a team of recreation assistants, coaches, and support staff, including scheduling, training, and performance management.
- Oversee the daily operations of the recreation center, including facility maintenance, equipment management, and program scheduling.
- Ensure the highest standards of customer service, safety, and cleanliness are maintained at all times.
- Assist in the development, promotion, and delivery of a diverse range of recreational programs and activities for all age groups.
- Manage bookings, memberships, and financial transactions accurately.
- Respond to and resolve customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints professionally and efficiently.
- Implement and enforce all relevant health and safety policies and procedures, including emergency protocols.
- Prepare reports on facility usage, program participation, and operational metrics.
- Collaborate with other council departments and community organizations to enhance recreation offerings.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a supervisory or team lead role, preferably within a leisure, recreation, or customer service environment.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage diverse tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in using recreation management software and standard office applications.
- A valid first aid and CPR certification.
- Demonstrated ability to handle customer service issues and resolve conflicts professionally.
Preferred Qualifications
- A degree or diploma in Leisure Management, Sports Science, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Experience with budget management and financial reporting.
- Knowledge of local government operations and community engagement strategies.
- Relevant professional certifications in recreation or facility management.
