Job Description

Rentokil Initial is seeking a motivated Pest Control Exclusion Technician to join our team in Manchester. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals eager to learn a skilled trade; no prior experience in pest control is required as full training will be provided. As an Exclusion Technician, you will play a crucial role in preventing pest infestations by identifying and sealing entry points in various commercial and residential buildings. This involves working both indoors and outdoors, utilizing a range of tools and materials to create secure environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections of buildings to identify potential pest entry points such as cracks, gaps, and openings.
- Perform exclusion work, including sealing cracks, repairing minor structural damage, installing mesh, and using other barrier materials.
- Utilize various hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete exclusion tasks.
- Document findings, actions taken, and materials used accurately.
- Communicate effectively with clients to explain exclusion methods and provide preventative advice.
- Maintain high standards of health and safety for yourself and others.
- Manage and organize company equipment and vehicle.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs.
Required Skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify small openings or damage.
- Basic problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to tasks.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical fitness, capable of lifting, bending, climbing, and working in various environments (e.g., attics, crawl spaces).
- A positive attitude and a strong willingness to learn new skills.
- Full UK driving license (essential for field work).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a trade, maintenance, or construction role (e.g., handy-person, builder, roofer) is a plus but not required.
- Comfortable working at heights or in confined spaces after training.
- Basic knowledge of building structures and common building materials.
