Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Rigging Supervisor to join our dynamic team in Kelowna, BC. This critical role involves overseeing all heavy rigging operations, ensuring the safe and efficient movement and placement of heavy loads on various construction projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, directing, and executing complex rigging tasks while adhering to strict safety protocols and project timelines. Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and oversee all aspects of heavy rigging operations, including equipment selection, load calculations, and lift plan development.
  • Supervise and coordinate rigging teams, ensuring adherence to safety procedures, company policies, and project schedules.
  • Conduct daily pre-task planning, safety briefings, and toolbox talks with rigging crews.
  • Inspect rigging equipment for defects and ensure proper maintenance and certification.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate rigging activities with overall project plans.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve rigging challenges in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, provincial, and company safety regulations and standards.
  • Provide mentorship and training to junior rigging personnel.
  • Maintain accurate records of rigging operations, equipment usage, and safety incidents.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy rigging supervision within a construction or industrial environment.
  • Proven expertise in load calculations, lift plan development, and critical lift execution.
  • In-depth knowledge of various rigging techniques and equipment.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety excellence.
  • Valid rigging certification (e.g., NCCCO, JOURNEYMAN RIGGER) relevant to Canadian standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant post-secondary education or trade certification.
  • Experience with specialized heavy lift equipment.
  • Familiarity with local BC safety regulations and construction practices.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
