Job Description
Join the Environmental Services team at AdventHealth Daytona Beach as a Hospital Cleaner. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment throughout our hospital facilities. Your dedication ensures that our patients, their families, and our staff have a pristine and healthy setting for healing and working. This is a full-time position offering a comprehensive benefits package.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily cleaning tasks in patient rooms, operating rooms, offices, and public areas, including dusting, mopping, vacuuming, and trash removal.
- Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces, restrooms, and medical equipment according to established protocols and infection control guidelines.
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment such as buffers, scrubbers, and vacuum cleaners.
- Replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
- Handle and dispose of bio-hazardous waste and general waste in compliance with hospital policies and regulations.
- Adhere to all safety standards and guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report any maintenance needs or safety hazards observed to a supervisor promptly.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, and staff.
- Assist with moving furniture or equipment as needed for cleaning or room setup.
Required Skills
- Ability to read and understand basic instructions and safety procedures in English.
- Physical ability to perform demanding tasks, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and pushing for extended periods.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
- Reliability and strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of hygiene and sanitation principles.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in environmental services or cleaning, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of various cleaning chemicals and their proper use.
- Familiarity with infection control practices.
