Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Optometrist to join our growing team in Sydney, Nova Scotia. This is an exciting opportunity for an internationally trained Optometrist looking to practice in Canada, as we offer full visa sponsorship. You will be responsible for providing comprehensive eye care services, including eye health examinations, vision correction, and patient education, ensuring the highest standards of patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive eye examinations for patients of all ages, including visual acuity, refraction, and ocular health assessments.
- Diagnose and treat ocular diseases, conditions, and vision abnormalities.
- Prescribe and fit corrective lenses, including eyeglasses and contact lenses, based on patient needs and lifestyle.
- Co-manage patients with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals as needed.
- Educate patients on proper eye care, contact lens wear and care, and the importance of regular eye health check-ups.
- Maintain accurate, detailed, and confidential patient records using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Stay current with advancements in optometry practices, technologies, and clinical guidelines through continuing education.
- Adhere to all provincial and federal regulations, professional standards, and company policies.
Required Skills
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.
- Eligibility for licensure as an Optometrist in Nova Scotia, Canada.
- Strong diagnostic, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient education abilities.
- A genuine commitment to providing exceptional, patient-centered eye care.
- Proficiency in using standard optometric equipment and diagnostic technologies.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative healthcare team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a clinical optometry setting (2+ years preferred).
- Experience with specific electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Fluency in additional languages is considered a valuable asset.
- Experience working with a diverse patient population.
- A proactive and adaptable approach to patient care and clinic operations.
