Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Van Driver to join our team in Cherry Hinton, Cambridge, with an immediate start. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who holds a valid driving license and is ready to hit the road. You will be responsible for the safe and timely delivery and collection of mail and parcels, playing a crucial role in ensuring our customers receive their items efficiently. While previous experience in a similar role is a plus, we provide comprehensive training on our routes and procedures. Punctuality, a strong work ethic, and a customer-focused attitude are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely drive and operate a company van to deliver and collect mail and parcels on assigned routes.
  • Perform daily vehicle checks and report any maintenance issues promptly.
  • Adhere to all road safety regulations and company driving policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries and collections.
  • Load and unload mail and parcels efficiently and securely.
  • Provide excellent customer service when interacting with recipients.
  • Sort and prepare mail/parcels for delivery as required.
  • Work effectively as part of a team to ensure all operational targets are met.

Required Skills

  • Valid UK driving license (Category B)
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Strong commitment to safety and adherence to road regulations.
  • Good communication skills.
  • A reliable and punctual approach to work.
  • Ability to lift and carry parcels of varying weights and sizes.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing routes or schedules.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a delivery driver or in a similar logistics role.
  • Knowledge of the Cambridge area, particularly Cherry Hinton and surrounding districts.
  • A clean driving record.
  • Basic navigational skills (GPS usage).
  • Experience with handheld scanning devices.
