Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and team-oriented Delivery Van Loading Assistant to join our Lancaster, PA hub. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for accurately and efficiently loading packages into delivery vans, ensuring they are organized according to specific routes and safety standards. You will work closely with our delivery drivers, helping them prepare their routes for timely and efficient daily operations. This position requires strong attention to detail, physical stamina, and a commitment to teamwork in a fast-paced warehouse environment. Full training will be provided to ensure your success.
Key Responsibilities
- Load and unload packages from delivery vehicles, adhering to safety protocols and company guidelines.
- Sort and organize packages within vans based on specific delivery routes, ensuring proper sequencing.
- Assist drivers with pre-trip route preparation, including verifying package counts and special delivery instructions.
- Operate warehouse equipment safely, such as hand trucks and dollies, after proper training.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, contributing to a safe and efficient loading dock.
- Communicate effectively with drivers and supervisors regarding loading progress and potential issues.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move packages weighing up to 50 lbs unassisted, and heavier with assistance.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in sorting and loading packages.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Basic communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
- Team-player attitude and willingness to collaborate with drivers and other team members.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or similar physically active role.
- Familiarity with scanning equipment or inventory systems.
- High school diploma or GED.
