Job Description
Join the Canadian Tire team as a Driver’s Mate / Porter and play a crucial role in our logistics and delivery operations. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy physical work, early starts, and being part of a dynamic team ensuring products reach our customers efficiently. You will assist our drivers with loading, unloading, and delivering a wide range of goods, providing a high level of customer service, and ensuring safe handling of all items. Full training will be provided for successful candidates, making this an ideal entry point into the logistics industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist drivers with the safe and efficient loading and unloading of merchandise.
- Verify product accuracy against delivery manifests.
- Safely transport goods from the vehicle into customer homes or businesses.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, maintaining a professional and courteous attitude.
- Help navigate and plan efficient delivery routes.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the delivery vehicle and work area.
- Communicate any issues or concerns to the driver or supervisor promptly.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy items frequently (up to 50 lbs)
- Strong physical stamina and endurance for early starts and demanding work.
- Reliability and punctuality are essential.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A strong commitment to safety.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, retail, or delivery environment.
- Valid Class 5 (or equivalent) driver's license, even if not required for driving.
- Familiarity with local geographic areas (Dartmouth, Halifax Regional Municipality).
