Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and innovative Chemical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Newcastle upon Tyne. In this role, you will be instrumental in the design, development, and optimization of chemical processes within our energy solutions. You will apply principles of chemical engineering to solve complex problems, improve efficiency, and ensure the safety and compliance of our operations. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes and equipment for energy production and related systems.
  • Conduct process simulations, material balances, and energy balances to evaluate and improve system performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and project managers.
  • Perform root cause analysis for process deviations and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare technical reports, process documentation, and operational procedures.
  • Participate in pilot plant and full-scale plant trials, data collection, and analysis.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, waste minimization, and energy efficiency improvements.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in process design, optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer.
  • Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and environmental best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or PhD in Chemical Engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
  • Experience in the energy sector (e.g., power generation, hydrogen production, CCUS).
  • Familiarity with process control systems and instrumentation.
  • Project management experience or certification.
