Job Description
We are actively seeking skilled and dedicated Surgical Technologists to join our dynamic surgical team at Hilo Medical Center. This is a unique opportunity for qualified professionals, including international applicants, to contribute their expertise in a vibrant and supportive hospital environment. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of surgical procedures, working closely with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain the sterile field during surgical procedures.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and provide appropriate instrumentation and supplies.
- Assist with draping, retracting, and suctioning during surgery.
- Perform surgical counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments with the circulating nurse.
- Handle specimens and ensure proper labeling and transfer.
- Assist in the preparation of the operating room before and after procedures.
- Maintain surgical equipment and ensure proper functioning.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
Required Skills
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
- Current certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or eligibility for certification.
- Proficiency in maintaining sterile technique and surgical asepsis.
- Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation and equipment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to patient safety and quality care.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist in an acute care setting.
- Experience across various surgical specialties (e.g., general, orthopedic, cardiovascular).
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Additional language proficiency is a plus.
- BLS certification.
