Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Drywall Mud Mixing Assistant to join our fast-paced team. This entry-level role is crucial to our operations, directly supporting our experienced drywall installers and finishers. You will be responsible for preparing various types of drywall mud to the precise consistency required for different stages of finishing, ensuring our crews have the right materials at the right time. This is a hands-on position ideal for individuals who are eager to learn the drywall trade, comfortable with physical work, and thrive in a dynamic construction environment. Full training will be provided to the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately measure and mix various types of drywall mud (all-purpose, topping, setting-type compounds) according to project specifications and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Maintain consistent mud consistency throughout the day, adjusting for environmental factors.
  • Transport mixed mud and other materials to installers on job sites.
  • Clean and maintain mixing equipment, tools, and work areas.
  • Assist installers with basic tasks such as fetching tools, supplies, and preparing surfaces.
  • Monitor inventory of mud and related supplies, reporting needs to supervisors.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and site regulations.

Required Skills

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and carrying heavy buckets (up to 50 lbs).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
  • Reliable transportation to various job sites within the Grand Rapids area.
  • Punctuality and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Basic understanding of construction site safety (training provided).
