Job Description
We are seeking highly skilled and experienced Airline Captains to join our growing team based out of Derry/Londonderry, Northern Ireland. As an Aer Lingus Captain, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our aircraft, ensuring the highest standards of safety, passenger comfort, and operational excellence. You will lead your crew with professionalism and embody the Aer Lingus commitment to outstanding service. This role requires exceptional command ability, adherence to strict regulations, and a proactive approach to all aspects of flight operations. Key Responsibilities
- Assume full command and responsibility for the aircraft, crew, and passengers during all phases of flight.
- Ensure strict adherence to all aviation regulations, company policies, and operational procedures.
- Conduct pre-flight checks, flight planning, and comprehensive briefings for the flight deck and cabin crew.
- Maintain the highest standards of professionalism, decision-making, and leadership in the cockpit.
- Monitor weather conditions, aircraft systems, and air traffic control instructions, making informed decisions to ensure flight safety.
- Manage and mitigate any operational challenges, emergencies, or unforeseen circumstances effectively.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with air traffic control, ground staff, and passengers.
- Complete all necessary flight documentation accurately and efficiently.
- Foster a positive and collaborative working environment within the flight crew.
Required Skills
- Valid ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot Licence) with relevant type rating (e.g., Airbus A320 Family)
- Class 1 Medical Certificate (unrestricted)
- Minimum 5000 hours total flying time, with at least 1500 hours as Commander on multi-crew, multi-engine aircraft (preferably jet aircraft)
- Frozen ATPL (fATPL) for First Officers looking to upgrade, or full ATPL for Captains.
- Demonstrated strong leadership and command abilities.
- Exceptional decision-making and problem-solving skills under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Right to live and work in the UK/Ireland.
- Fluent in English (ICAO Level 4 or higher).
Preferred Qualifications
- Type rating on Airbus A330 or A321LR aircraft.
- Experience operating in challenging weather conditions.
- Previous experience with a major international airline.
- Knowledge of EASA flight regulations and procedures.
- A Bachelor's degree in Aviation or a related field.
