Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our dedicated team as a Trainee Environmental Health Officer. This is an exceptional entry-level opportunity within the public sector for someone passionate about public health and environmental protection. No prior experience as an Environmental Health Officer is required; comprehensive training and mentorship will be provided to equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in this vital role. You will learn to investigate and resolve issues related to food safety, housing standards, pollution control, public nuisances, and infectious disease control, all while ensuring compliance with local and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undergo a structured training program to develop expertise in all areas of environmental health.
  • Assist qualified Environmental Health Officers with inspections, investigations, and enforcement actions.
  • Learn to identify potential public health hazards and recommend corrective measures.
  • Participate in site visits to commercial premises, residential properties, and public spaces.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on findings and actions taken.
  • Engage with the public to provide advice, education, and respond to environmental health inquiries.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external agencies to ensure effective public health outcomes.
  • Stay informed about current environmental health legislation, policies, and best practices.
