Job Description

AV Connections, Inc. is seeking a motivated and physically capable individual to join our dynamic team as a Lighting Technician’s Mate specializing in Climbing & Rigging. This is an exceptional opportunity for an entry-level candidate with a strong work ethic and a desire to learn. You will work alongside experienced professionals, receiving comprehensive training in all aspects of event lighting setup, operation, and, critically, safe climbing and rigging practices for overhead equipment. Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior lighting technicians in the setup, installation, and dismantle of lighting equipment for various events.
- Learn and apply safe climbing and rigging techniques under direct supervision to position and secure lighting fixtures and trussing.
- Load and unload equipment trucks efficiently and safely.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of equipment and workspaces.
- Perform routine checks and basic maintenance on lighting equipment as directed.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols and industry standards.
- Support technical teams on-site during events, ensuring smooth operations.
- Develop a strong understanding of different lighting fixtures, cables, and control systems through hands-on experience.
- Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities.
Required Skills
- Ability to work at heights and comfortable with climbing (training will be provided for specific rigging techniques).
- Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 75 lbs) repeatedly.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- A diligent and safety-conscious mindset.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
- Strong team player with a positive attitude.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as events demand.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous experience with general labor, construction, or stagehand work is a plus but not required.
- Basic understanding of tools and equipment operation.
- A passion for live events, music, or theatrical production.
