Job Description
Are you passionate about the outdoors and eager to make a difference in preserving America’s natural and cultural treasures? The National Park Service is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals for an entry-level National Park Ranger position. Key Responsibilities
- Assist visitors with information, directions, and park regulations.
- Conduct basic interpretive programs, such as guided walks and campfire talks, to educate visitors about park resources.
- Perform routine patrols of park areas to ensure visitor safety and compliance with regulations.
- Participate in resource management activities, including trail maintenance, habitat restoration, and data collection.
- Provide basic emergency response assistance, including first aid and search and rescue support.
- Prepare and maintain simple reports related to incidents, visitor contacts, and resource observations.
- Collaborate with senior rangers and park staff on various projects and initiatives.
- Contribute to a positive and welcoming environment for all park visitors.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to pass a physical fitness test and work effectively in various outdoor conditions.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong passion for nature, conservation, and public service.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team.
- Basic problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in park management, natural sciences, recreation, education, or a related field.
- Previous volunteer experience in parks, conservation, or outdoor education.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience with basic outdoor navigation or wilderness skills.
