Job Description
We are seeking highly skilled and compassionate Emergency Room (ER) Nurses to join our dynamic team in San Diego. As an ER Nurse at Scripps Health, you will be at the forefront of critical care, providing immediate and expert nursing care to patients across the lifespan experiencing a wide range of medical emergencies. Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in the emergency setting.
- Provide immediate and life-saving interventions for critically ill or injured patients.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Monitor patient vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and overall condition, reporting changes promptly.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, other nurses, and ancillary staff to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes accurately and thoroughly.
- Educate patients and their families on diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment in the emergency department.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training.
Required Skills
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in your current jurisdiction (or eligibility for California RN licensure)
- Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care experience, with at least 1 year in an Emergency Department setting
- BLS and ACLS certification (PALS preferred or obtained within 6 months of hire)
- Demonstrated strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Commitment to patient-centered care and teamwork
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
- Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification
- Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) credential
- Experience with diverse patient populations and cultural sensitivities
