Job Description
Maxar Technologies is seeking a passionate and driven Remote Sensing & Satellite Imagery Intern to join our innovative team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the exciting field of geospatial intelligence. You will support various projects involving the acquisition, processing, analysis, and interpretation of satellite imagery and remote sensing data. This role is ideal for students eager to apply their academic knowledge in a real-world setting and contribute to cutting-edge research and development. Full training on our proprietary tools and methodologies will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the collection, processing, and quality control of satellite imagery data.
- Perform basic geospatial analysis using GIS and remote sensing software.
- Develop and maintain scripts (e.g., in Python) for data automation and workflow optimization.
- Support the creation of reports, presentations, and visualizations of geospatial findings.
- Contribute to research and development projects related to new remote sensing applications.
- Collaborate with senior scientists and engineers on various initiatives.
- Document procedures and methodologies for data handling and analysis.
Required Skills
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Remote Sensing, Geography, Geomatics, Computer Science, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of GIS principles and remote sensing concepts.
- Familiarity with at least one programming language, preferably Python.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).
- Familiarity with remote sensing software (e.g., ENVI, ERDAS Imagine).
- Basic knowledge of cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP) for geospatial data.
- Interest in machine learning or deep learning applied to satellite imagery.
- Prior academic project experience with satellite imagery analysis.
