Job Description

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as Trainee Border Inspection Officers. No prior experience in law enforcement or border services is required; we provide comprehensive paid training to equip you with all the necessary skills and knowledge. Key Responsibilities

  • Participate actively in and successfully complete all aspects of the Border Services Officer Training Program.
  • Learn and apply Canadian customs and immigration laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Conduct preliminary inspections of travelers, vehicles, and goods under supervision.
  • Assist in the detection and interdiction of prohibited and restricted goods.
  • Maintain a high level of situational awareness and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with the public and colleagues.
  • Undergo physical and psychological assessments required for the role.

Required Skills

  • Canadian Citizenship
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Canadian driver's license
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Commitment to public service and safety
  • Physical fitness and ability to meet demanding physical requirements
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including shifts, weekends, and holidays
  • No criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., Criminology, Law, Public Administration)
  • Fluency in both English and French
  • Experience in customer service or a public-facing role
  • Knowledge of other languages
