Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Geneticist to join our dynamic research and development team in Earlsdon, Coventry. In this pivotal role, you will contribute to cutting-edge genomic research projects aimed at identifying novel therapeutic targets and understanding disease mechanisms. You will be responsible for designing and executing genetic experiments, analysing complex genomic datasets, and interpreting findings to advance our drug discovery programs. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with state-of-the-art technologies and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to translate genetic insights into tangible patient benefits.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement genetic and genomic experiments, including next-generation sequencing, CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing, and functional genomics screens.
- Analyze large-scale genetic datasets using bioinformatics tools and statistical methods.
- Interpret genetic findings and communicate results effectively to project teams and stakeholders.
- Contribute to the identification and validation of novel drug targets and biomarkers.
- Collaborate with molecular biologists, pharmacologists, and computational scientists to integrate genetic data with other biological information.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in genetics, genomics, and relevant therapeutic areas.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and scientific publications.
Required Skills
- Ph.D. in Genetics, Genomics, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing and executing genetic experiments.
- Proficiency in analyzing large genomic datasets (e.g., RNA-seq, WES/WGS, ChIP-seq).
- Strong programming skills in R, Python, or similar languages for data analysis.
- Familiarity with bioinformatics tools and databases.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and critical thinking.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-doctoral experience in an academic or industrial setting.
- Experience with functional genomics approaches (e.g., CRISPR screens, RNAi).
- Knowledge of human genetics and disease mechanisms.
- Familiarity with cloud computing environments for data analysis.
- Track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
