Job Description

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Actuary to join our dynamic team in Reading. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing expert actuarial advice and solutions to our diverse client base. You will be involved in challenging projects across various areas, including risk management, financial reporting, capital management, and product development. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified actuary to further develop their expertise, contribute to high-impact projects, and work alongside some of the industry’s brightest minds.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct complex actuarial analyses, modeling, and valuations.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations summarizing findings and recommendations for clients and senior management.
  • Develop and review actuarial models and tools, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Provide expert advice on risk management, solvency, capital requirements, and financial reporting (IFRS, Solvency II).
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions to clients.
  • Contribute to business development initiatives and thought leadership within the actuarial practice.
  • Mentor junior actuarial staff and support their professional development.

Required Skills

  • Fully qualified Actuary (FIA/FSA or equivalent).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in actuarial software (e.g., Prophet, MoSes, R, Python).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Deep understanding of insurance and/or pensions regulations (e.g., Solvency II, IFRS 17).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in actuarial consulting.
  • Previous experience with a major financial services firm or insurer.
  • Project management certification.
  • Master's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
