Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Corporate Lawyer to join our dynamic team based in Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth. This is a full-time, on-site position where you will play a crucial role in advising our diverse client base on a wide range of corporate law matters. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in corporate transactions, governance, and general commercial law, demonstrating a strong understanding of the UK legal landscape. You will be instrumental in fostering client relationships and contributing to the continued growth and success of our corporate department.
Key Responsibilities
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of corporate and commercial agreements, including share purchase agreements, asset purchase agreements, joint venture agreements, and partnership agreements.
- Advising clients on corporate governance issues, company secretarial matters, and regulatory compliance.
- Managing and leading corporate transactions from inception to completion, including due diligence processes.
- Providing strategic legal advice on mergers, acquisitions, disposals, and reorganisations for both private and public companies.
- Conducting thorough legal research and preparing clear, concise legal opinions and reports.
- Liaising directly with clients, building strong professional relationships and understanding their commercial objectives.
- Collaborating effectively with colleagues across different departments within the firm.
- Participating in business development activities to expand the firm's client base and reputation.
Required Skills
- Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales.
- Minimum of 3 years Post-Qualification Experience (PQE) in corporate law.
- Demonstrable expertise in corporate transactions, mergers & acquisitions, and corporate governance.
- Exceptional legal research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal concepts clearly.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy in all work.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a client-focused approach.
- Proficiency in relevant legal software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with clients across various industry sectors, particularly SMEs.
- A strong network within the Portsmouth and Hampshire business community.
- Previous experience in a role involving direct client relationship management and business development.
- Additional qualifications or specialisations in finance, intellectual property, or data protection law.
