Job Description
As a Telecommunications Tower Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design, construction, and maintenance of our essential telecommunications infrastructure. This position involves ensuring the structural integrity and optimal performance of cell towers, collaborating with various internal and external teams, and adhering to rigorous industry standards and safety regulations. We are actively seeking talented individuals requiring international sponsorship to join our dynamic engineering team based in Topeka, KS.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive structural analysis and design of telecommunications towers, foundations, and appurtenances.
- Perform detailed site visits to assess existing infrastructure, identify potential issues, and ensure compliance with design specifications and safety protocols.
- Develop accurate and detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and bill of materials for new constructions, modifications, and upgrades.
- Collaborate effectively with project managers, construction teams, zoning specialists, and clients to ensure the successful execution of projects from conception to completion.
- Review and approve engineering designs, modifications, and upgrades to tower structures, ensuring adherence to all technical requirements and regulatory guidelines.
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as TIA/EIA standards and other relevant industry best practices.
- Provide expert technical support and guidance throughout the project lifecycle, addressing engineering challenges and providing innovative solutions.
- Participate in troubleshooting and resolution of complex structural and operational challenges encountered during tower construction or maintenance.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in telecommunications tower engineering.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software such as RISA-3D, tnxTower, or similar industry-standard tools.
- Strong understanding of TIA/EIA standards (e.g., TIA-222) and relevant local building codes.
- Demonstrated experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) for drafting and design.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and concisely.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience with various tower types including self-support, guyed, and monopole structures.
- Familiarity with RF systems, antenna technology, and associated telecommunications equipment.
- Prior project management experience within the telecommunications infrastructure sector.
