Job Description

We are urgently seeking a dedicated and meticulous Public Healthcare Laundry & Sterilization Aide to join our essential services team. This role is critical to maintaining a sterile and safe environment for our patients and staff by ensuring all medical linens and equipment are properly processed, cleaned, and sterilized. Full training will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to start a career in healthcare support. You will be an integral part of our infection control efforts, contributing directly to public health.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, sort, wash, dry, fold, and distribute hospital linens and uniforms.
  • Operate and maintain commercial laundry equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Prepare medical instruments and equipment for sterilization according to established protocols.
  • Load, operate, and monitor autoclaves and other sterilization equipment.
  • Inspect sterilized items for proper packaging and expiry dates.
  • Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles and inventory.
  • Adhere strictly to infection control, safety, and hygiene standards.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or supply shortages to supervisors.
  • Assist with inventory management of laundry and sterilization supplies.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare team members to ensure smooth operations.

Required Skills

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and protocols.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills for record keeping.
  • Physical stamina to stand, walk, lift (up to 25 lbs), and push carts for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.

  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • No prior experience required; full training provided.
