Job Description
Are you an early riser with a passion for quality and an interest in the art of coffee? Island Roasters Inc. is looking for a dedicated Coffee Roastery Production Assistant to join our growing team in Summerside. This is an incredible opportunity to learn the intricacies of coffee roasting and production from the ground up. You’ll be instrumental in ensuring our coffee beans are handled with care, from green bean storage to packaging, contributing directly to the quality and consistency our customers love. Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the weighing and preparation of green coffee beans for roasting.
- Support the Head Roaster during roasting operations, including loading and unloading roasters.
- Monitor roast profiles and assist with quality control checks post-roast.
- Operate and maintain packaging equipment, ensuring accurate weighing and sealing of roasted coffee.
- Label and package finished coffee products for distribution.
- Organize and maintain inventory of green and roasted coffee beans.
- Clean and sanitize roastery equipment and workspace to uphold strict hygiene standards.
- Assist with general warehouse duties, including receiving shipments and organizing storage areas.
- Follow all safety protocols and company policies diligently.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout a shift.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Reliable and punctual, with a willingness to work early morning shifts.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic numeracy for weighing and inventory tasks.
- A positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a production, manufacturing, or food-handling environment is an asset but not required.
- Familiarity with coffee and an eagerness to learn about the roasting process.
- Forklift certification (training can be provided).
