Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and highly organized Meals on Wheels Coordinator to join our dedicated community services team. This pivotal role involves overseeing the efficient delivery of nutritious meals to vulnerable residents across Shrewsbury, ensuring their well-being and maintaining vital connections within the community. The successful candidate will manage daily operations, coordinate with volunteers and external partners, and ensure the service runs smoothly and effectively to meet the needs of our service users.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily meal delivery schedules and routes for Meals on Wheels service.
- Recruit, train, and manage a team of dedicated volunteers and delivery drivers.
- Maintain accurate records of meal recipients, dietary requirements, and delivery logistics.
- Liaise with catering suppliers to ensure timely and appropriate meal preparation.
- Act as a primary point of contact for service users, their families, and carers, addressing inquiries and concerns with empathy.
- Monitor and evaluate service quality, implementing improvements as necessary.
- Manage inventory of equipment and supplies related to meal delivery.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, health, and safety regulations.
- Prepare reports on service performance and volunteer engagement.
Required Skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Empathy and a genuine desire to support vulnerable individuals
- Full UK driving license and access to a reliable vehicle (for occasional site visits/emergencies)
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a coordination or administrative role, preferably within a community or social care setting
- Experience in volunteer management
- Knowledge of local community resources in Shrewsbury
- Basic understanding of food hygiene standards
