Job Description
Are you fascinated by the magic of film photography and eager to learn the traditional art of darkroom processing? Palmetto Lens Studios is seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Darkroom & Film Processing Intern to join our creative team. This entry-level internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a professional darkroom environment. No prior experience is required; we are looking for individuals with a strong interest in photography, a keen eye for detail, and a willingness to learn. You will be trained in all aspects of film development, printing, and darkroom maintenance, contributing to our commitment to high-quality analogue outputs. This is a chance to develop foundational skills from experienced professionals and contribute to tangible photographic art.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior technicians with the development of various film formats (35mm, medium format).
- Learn and practice black and white printmaking techniques, including exposure, dodging, and burning.
- Prepare and maintain darkroom chemistry under supervision.
- Organize and archive processed negatives and prints.
- Ensure cleanliness and proper functioning of darkroom equipment.
- Assist with general studio tasks as needed to support photographic projects.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and best practices in the darkroom.

- Strong passion for photography and an interest in film processing.
- Eagerness to learn and absorb new technical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and precision.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously.
