Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and physically capable Bridge Painting Sandblaster (Mate) to join our team in Great Yarmouth. In this crucial support role, you will work alongside experienced sandblasters, assisting in the preparation of steel surfaces on bridges and other structures. This involves a variety of tasks from setting up equipment to surface cleaning and general site support, all while adhering to strict safety protocols. Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead sandblasters in the setup and dismantling of abrasive blasting equipment.
- Prepare work areas, including containment erection and surface masking.
- Load and unload blasting media and other materials.
- Perform pre-blasting surface cleaning and debris removal.
- Monitor equipment and report any malfunctions or issues to the lead operator.
- Maintain a clean and organized work site.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Support the painting team with various tasks as required after blasting.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Basic understanding of construction site safety (e.g., CSCS card).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a construction, industrial, or outdoor labor role.
- Knowledge of abrasive blasting processes or surface preparation techniques.
- Relevant health and safety certifications (e.g., confined spaces, working at heights).
- Full UK driving license.
