Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Heavy Duty Mechanic specializing in Diesel engines to join our dynamic team in West Valley City, UT. This is a unique opportunity for qualified international candidates, as LMIA and Visa Sponsorship are available. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of Caterpillar heavy equipment and diesel engines. You will work on complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, ensuring our machinery operates at peak performance and reliability. This role requires a strong understanding of heavy equipment mechanics, a commitment to safety, and a desire to contribute to a leading dealership.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled services on heavy diesel equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
- Conduct repairs and overhauls on engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and other components.
- Inspect, test, and adjust repaired equipment for proper performance.
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation of all work performed.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
- Collaborate with service advisors and parts department to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Provide technical assistance and mentorship to junior mechanics when required.
Required Skills
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing heavy diesel engines (Caterpillar experience preferred).
- Strong understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic codes.
- Competency in using diagnostic software and tools relevant to heavy equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with heavy equipment repair.
Preferred Qualifications
- Journeyman Heavy Equipment Mechanic certification or equivalent.
- Caterpillar specific training or certifications.
- Experience with welding and fabrication.
- Knowledge of different heavy equipment types (excavators, dozers, loaders, etc.).
- ASE Diesel certifications.
