Job Description

Key Responsibilities
- Participate in extensive training programs covering highway inspection techniques, safety protocols, and relevant regulations.
- Assist experienced Highway Inspectors in conducting routine inspections of provincial roads, bridges, culverts, and other transportation infrastructure.
- Learn to identify and document defects, damages, and potential hazards on roadways.
- Support the collection of data and preparation of inspection reports.
- Operate departmental vehicles and equipment safely and responsibly after appropriate training.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding inspection findings.
- Adhere to all safety standards and departmental policies.
Required Skills
- Valid Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent) with a clean driving record.
- Strong willingness to learn and a proactive attitude.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Good observational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic computer literacy for data entry and report preparation.
- Physical ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and traverse uneven terrain.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Basic knowledge of construction or civil engineering principles (though not required, it's a plus).
- Experience with basic hand tools or field work.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
