Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Caretaker to join our Estates team at the University of Leicester. This entry-level position is perfect for someone looking to start a career in facilities management. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of our university buildings and grounds. Full training will be provided to the successful candidate, equipping you with all the necessary skills to excel in this vital role. Your efforts will help maintain a safe, secure, and clean environment for our students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform minor repairs and general maintenance tasks across university buildings.
  • Conduct regular security checks, including locking and unlocking premises.
  • Monitor and manage waste disposal and recycling systems.
  • Undertake basic grounds maintenance, such as litter picking and maintaining pathways.
  • Ensure all health and safety regulations are adhered to on campus.
  • Assist with setting up and moving furniture or equipment for events and lectures.
  • Report larger maintenance issues to the appropriate department.
  • Respond to emergency call-outs as required.
