Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Psychiatric Assistant to join our mental health team. In this vital role, you will provide essential support to patients with mental health conditions, working under the supervision of qualified nurses and therapists. You will assist in the delivery of patient care, observe and report on patient well-being, and help maintain a safe and therapeutic environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist qualified healthcare professionals in the delivery of patient care plans.
  • Provide compassionate support and maintain a therapeutic relationship with patients.
  • Monitor and record patients' vital signs, observations, and emotional state, reporting any changes promptly.
  • Help patients with daily living activities, including personal care, mobility, and nutrition.
  • Support patients in engaging with therapeutic activities and group sessions.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment within the ward or unit.
  • Adhere to all Trust policies, procedures, and relevant healthcare regulations.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to care planning discussions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent qualification.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare or mental health support role.

  • Experience with challenging behaviour management techniques.
