Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Theatre Nurse to join our dynamic operating department at Spire Elland Hospital. As a Theatre Nurse, you will be an integral part of our surgical team, providing high-quality, patient-centred care across a range of surgical specialities. Your role will involve supporting patients throughout their surgical journey, from admission to recovery, ensuring safety, dignity, and excellent clinical outcomes. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures.
  • Prepare operating theatre for surgery, ensuring all equipment is sterile and functional.
  • Perform scrub and circulating duties during surgical procedures.
  • Monitor patient's condition throughout their time in the theatre and recovery.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
  • Accurately maintain patient records and documentation.
  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anaesthetists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ensure adherence to all hospital policies, procedures, and relevant clinical guidelines.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and continuous professional development.

Required Skills

  • Current NMC registration as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Minimum of 2 years post-registration experience in an operating theatre setting.
  • Demonstrable experience in scrubbing, circulating, and recovery.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality patient care.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-registration qualification in Operating Department Practice or relevant surgical speciality.
  • Experience with a variety of surgical specialities (e.g., orthopaedics, general surgery, ophthalmology).
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) or Immediate Life Support (ILS) certification.
