Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Test Driver to join our dynamic engineering team in Liverpool. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for rigorously testing pre-production and prototype vehicles, providing invaluable feedback to our design and engineering departments. Your keen eye for detail and commitment to accuracy will directly contribute to the quality, safety, and performance of our next-generation vehicles. This is an on-site position requiring daily presence at our testing facilities and on public roads.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute detailed test plans and routes on public roads and designated test tracks.
- Monitor, record, and report vehicle performance data using specified equipment and procedures.
- Identify and document any anomalies, malfunctions, or areas for improvement in vehicle dynamics, comfort, and functionality.
- Provide clear, concise, and objective feedback to engineering and development teams.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols, road regulations, and testing guidelines.
- Conduct pre- and post-test vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all prototype vehicles and testing activities.
- Participate in team meetings to discuss test results and development progress.
Required Skills
- Full, clean UK driving license (Class B or equivalent)
- Minimum of 2 years professional driving experience
- Exceptional driving skills and an excellent driving record
- Strong attention to detail and observational abilities
- Ability to follow complex instructions and test procedures accurately
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with basic computer applications for data entry and reporting
- Understanding of automotive safety systems and driving dynamics
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced driving qualification (e.g., IAM RoadSmart, RoSPA Advanced Driver)
- Previous experience in automotive testing or prototype evaluation
- Basic mechanical knowledge or automotive technician certification
- Experience with data acquisition systems or specialized testing equipment
- Familiarity with Jaguar Land Rover vehicle platforms and technologies
