Job Description

Join Downer Group as a Rural Fencing Labourer and become a vital part of our team, contributing to essential infrastructure projects across the Darwin region. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, are physically fit, and are eager to learn new skills. As a Labourer, you will assist with the construction, repair, and maintenance of rural fences, ensuring the integrity and safety of various land boundaries. Full training will be provided to ensure you gain the necessary expertise in fencing techniques and safe work practices. This role demands a strong work ethic, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment under varying weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation, repair, and maintenance of various types of rural fencing (e.g., wire, mesh, timber post and rail).
  • Perform manual tasks including digging post holes, lifting and carrying materials, and clearing vegetation.
  • Operate basic hand and power tools safely and efficiently under supervision.
  • Prepare work sites, including setting out fence lines and ensuring all necessary materials are available.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company policies, wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working order and report any defects.
  • Contribute to a positive and productive team environment.
  • Perform general site clean-up and housekeeping duties.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current Australian C-Class Driver's License.
  • Construction Induction Card (White Card).
