Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and environmentally conscious Bioenergy Plant Operator to join our sustainable energy team in Morwell. This vital role involves the safe and efficient operation, monitoring, and maintenance of our state-of-the-art bioenergy plant. You will be instrumental in processing organic waste into clean, renewable energy, contributing directly to Australia’s sustainable future. This is an on-site position requiring a strong commitment to safety, operational excellence, and environmental stewardship. Full training on specific plant systems will be provided to the successful candidate, building upon existing operational experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor plant equipment and systems (e.g., digesters, generators, control panels) to ensure optimal performance.
  • Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs on plant machinery.
  • Monitor process parameters, collect data, and identify deviations, taking corrective actions as needed.
  • Manage feedstock handling and preparation, ensuring adherence to quality and environmental standards.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate operational logs and records, reporting any incidents or anomalies promptly.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and maintenance staff to ensure seamless plant operations.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and training programs.
  • Respond to alarms and emergency situations in a timely and professional manner.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an industrial plant operation or similar heavy industry environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Strong commitment to safety procedures and environmental compliance.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and P&IDs.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications for data entry and monitoring.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and independently.
  • Physical fitness for manual tasks, climbing stairs, and working in various plant conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Trade qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g., mechanical, electrical, process control).
  • Experience with SCADA or DCS systems.
  • Forklift license or experience with heavy machinery operation.
  • Knowledge of anaerobic digestion or other bioenergy processes.
  • First Aid and confined space entry certifications.
