Job Description
We are seeking enthusiastic and physically capable individuals to join our team as Seasonal Honey Harvesters. This is a hands-on role vital to our honey production, involving working directly with beehives to extract honey during the peak season. No prior experience in beekeeping is necessary as full training will be provided. All necessary protective gear and tools will be supplied. This role offers a unique opportunity to work outdoors, learn about sustainable apiculture, and contribute to a beloved local product.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and transportation of beehives for honey extraction.
- Safely remove frames laden with honey from beehives using provided tools and techniques.
- Transport honey frames from the apiary to the processing facility.
- Operate honey extraction equipment under supervision (e.g., uncappers, extractors).
- Clean and maintain beekeeping equipment and work areas.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and hygiene standards.
- Work collaboratively with the apiary team to ensure efficient and timely harvesting.
- Monitor bee health and report any unusual observations to senior beekeepers.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Comfortable working around insects (bees).
- Valid Australian driver's license (preferred, but not essential).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in outdoor labor, farm work, or manual handling.
- Basic understanding of agricultural practices.
- First Aid certification.
