Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and empathetic Family Law Clerk to join our busy legal practice in Port Hedland. This role is crucial in supporting our Family Law team, ensuring the smooth and efficient management of client cases. The successful candidate will assist with administrative tasks, client communications, and preparation of legal documents, contributing directly to the delivery of high-quality legal services to our clients during often sensitive times.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist legal practitioners with the preparation and drafting of various family law documents, including applications, affidavits, and consent orders.
- Manage and organize client files, ensuring all documentation is accurately maintained and updated.
- Communicate professionally and empathetically with clients, providing updates and gathering necessary information.
- Conduct legal research as directed by solicitors.
- Liaise with external parties such as courts, barristers' chambers, and other legal professionals.
- Schedule appointments, manage diaries, and arrange meetings.
- Prepare correspondence, memoranda, and other written communications.
- Support the team with general administrative duties, including photocopying, scanning, and filing.
Required Skills
- Exceptional organizational and administrative skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- A high degree of discretion and confidentiality.
- Empathy and a professional approach when dealing with sensitive client matters.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a legal administrative or clerk role, particularly within family law.
- Completion or partial completion of a Legal Studies or Paralegal qualification.
- Familiarity with legal practice management software.
- Knowledge of family law procedures and terminology in Western Australia.
