Job Description
Alberta Health Services is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Orthopedic Surgeon to join our dynamic team in Lethbridge, Alberta. Key Responsibilities
- Perform complex orthopedic surgical procedures including trauma, joint replacement, sports medicine, and spinal surgeries.
- Provide expert consultation and diagnosis for patients with musculoskeletal conditions.
- Manage pre-operative and post-operative care, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
- Participate in on-call rotations and emergency orthopedic services.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary healthcare teams to develop comprehensive patient treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records in accordance with AHS policies.
- Engage in continuous professional development and medical education.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and clinical research where applicable.
Required Skills
- Medical Degree (MD or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
- Certification in Orthopedic Surgery from a recognized national or international board.
- Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).
- Proven experience in a broad range of orthopedic surgical procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Commitment to patient-centered care and ethical practice.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fellowship training in a subspecialty of Orthopedic Surgery (e.g., Spine, Sports Medicine, Hand).
- Experience practicing in a Canadian healthcare system.
- Active involvement in medical research or teaching.
- Proficiency with electronic medical record systems.
