Job Description

Alberta Health Services is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Orthopedic Surgeon to join our dynamic team in Lethbridge, Alberta. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform complex orthopedic surgical procedures including trauma, joint replacement, sports medicine, and spinal surgeries.
  • Provide expert consultation and diagnosis for patients with musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Manage pre-operative and post-operative care, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and emergency orthopedic services.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary healthcare teams to develop comprehensive patient treatment plans.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records in accordance with AHS policies.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and medical education.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and clinical research where applicable.

Required Skills

  • Medical Degree (MD or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
  • Certification in Orthopedic Surgery from a recognized national or international board.
  • Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).
  • Proven experience in a broad range of orthopedic surgical procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and ethical practice.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fellowship training in a subspecialty of Orthopedic Surgery (e.g., Spine, Sports Medicine, Hand).
  • Experience practicing in a Canadian healthcare system.
  • Active involvement in medical research or teaching.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical record systems.
