Job Description
We are seeking a talented and passionate Upcycling Furniture Restorer to join our workshop-based team. If you have a keen eye for design, a love for hands-on work, and a commitment to quality, this is an incredible opportunity to apply your creative trade. You will be instrumental in all stages of the restoration process, from initial assessment to final finishing, contributing to unique and sustainable furniture solutions for our valued clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess furniture pieces for restoration potential and required repairs.
- Strip old finishes, sand, and prepare surfaces for new treatments.
- Perform structural repairs, including joinery, stability, and wood patching.
- Apply various finishing techniques such as painting, staining, waxing, and sealing.
- Select appropriate materials and finishes that align with the design vision.
- Collaborate with the design team to develop creative restoration plans.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment.
- Document restoration processes and materials used for each project.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in furniture restoration, woodworking, or a related craft (minimum 2 years).
- Proficiency with hand and power tools commonly used in furniture restoration.
- Strong understanding of various wood types, finishes, and restoration materials.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality craftsmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Creative problem-solving skills for unique restoration challenges.
- Physical ability to lift and move furniture pieces as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- A portfolio showcasing previous furniture restoration or upcycling projects.
- Formal training or certification in furniture restoration, fine woodworking, or art conservation.
- Experience with upholstery or fabric work is a plus.
- Knowledge of sustainable practices and eco-friendly restoration techniques.
